About Us
European Afghan Corporate Profile
European Afghan Construction Company Ltd. is a project developer established in Kabul, Afghanistan. In december 2003 we started out as Holland Afghan Company and in January of this year we altered our name to European Afghan. Our reason for this was to show that we intend and do cooperate with companies from entire Europe and not only from The Netherlands.
Since we started our company in December 2003 we formed joint ventures with Afghan contractors and executed several construction and renovation projects for the Afghan Government and ISAF. Almost three years after the war there still lies an enormous task for the people of Afghanistan, aid organizations and donor countries to rebuild this country.
Our core business revolves around project development and project management, our goal is to get the right people to get the job done and we are very pro-active. We see it as our goal to notice where the need for aid is the largest and as people from developed western countries we know what to do about it, to make things better for the people of Afghanistan.
Need for Initiatives
From this thought we can take on any role necessary to deliver the service and expertise needed to improve the situation. As visitors of Afghan National Army Hospitals in Kabul, it was clear to us that there had to be an initiative to improve hygiene standards, which is of course one of the most important aspects of a hospital. We set up a project for the supply of a full range of cleaning products and intensive training for hospital staff members enabling them to improve hygiene standards.
Once our cleaning products had been delivered and staff training commenced the results were fabulous, not only in terms of hygiene but also in appreciation. To the staff of ANA Hospitals it was clear that they were helped in their work, there never was a lack willingness, just a lack of means and knowledge. Our hospital cleaning efforts are one example of European Afghan's goals and mission for Afghanistan.
Other activities
Besides our cleaning activities aiming at hygiene improvement, one of our other concerns is the return of 2 million refugees from Pakistan and Iran. Refugee contracts by UNHCR will be expiring this year, thus the need for accomodation of all these people is huge. Since October last year we have been working on an Urban Housing concept, named SIDINA "Strategic Infrastructure Development Initiative New Afghanistan".
Our goals for the concept were clear, come up with a plan to accommodate all those refugees, providing them with durable, relatively low-cost housing units, which can be build at high speed. Additionally the concept would have to give a positive pulse to the Afghan economy through aspects such as increased employment and faith in the Afghan Government amongst the people.
